Disintegration

Masumi and Guy made the film "DISINTEGRATION" for the async Short Film Competition, in which Ryuichi Sakamoto asked filmmakers to create a movie using music from his album async.

async was Ryuichi Sakamoto's first studio album after an eight-year hiatus. It is an album conceived as a soundtrack to an imaginary film by Soviet filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. Sakamoto expressed a desire to see how the music could be used in film; this is where the short film competition comes in. Although they didn't win the competition, the pair was happy with the outcome of this project. The composition and sound design mix well with the soundtrack, and it opened up possibilities for a new approach to collaboration between dance and moving image.
